The Arrival

The Arrival by Shaun Tan was very unique and enjoyable to read it was almost like a looking at film reels of the black and white sort. I think with any story of immigration there is a natural draw to these stories for me.number one, my background is half Mexican-half polish so the feeling of xenophobia and being an immigrant is something I can relate to. The other thing is that people can understand what it feels like to be an outsider, and on some level they can connect with the stories. I think Shaun Tan's stories succeeded in getting people to think about being empathetic to immigrants rather than just assume they they are a problem.  This book lack of words remind of " snowman by Raymond Briggs which I used to read as a kid. and while there are other comics that don't use words either for some reasons this book instantly reminded me of the snowman which I had not thought about in years. when I looked up Shaun Tan's book I found that he had been inspired by the sto
